Last Bugatti Veyron Sold - But Cabrio Is Still there…

Millionaires (or, rather, billionaires) around the world have just seen their list of “cars to buy” shrink by one model, as Bugatti announced the sale of the final Veyron 16.4, thus ending the astonishing hypercar’s production.
The lucky buyer who scooped up the last Veyron is an unnamed “European customer” who, nevertheless, will have to wait until next fall for his $1.7 million supercar to be delivered.
The Veyron was built, over its seven-year production run, in just 300 examples, among them various limited editions (Hermes or Pur Sang, anyone?). Regardless of taste, the Veyron redefined the term “performance” even amongst the most capable of supercars.
It accelerated from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.3 seconds and its top speed exceeded 400 km/h (250 mph) - courtesy of the 8.0-litre W16 engine with no less than four turbochargers which directed 1.001-horses to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. And then there was of course the Super Sport, with its 1,200 hp and 415 km/h (258 mph)…
If it’s any consolation, the open-top Veyron Grand Sport is still on sale, costing just $285,000more than the coupe –no big deal if you can afford to pay $20,000 for its annual service or $35,000 for a set of Michelin tires every 10,000 miles (16,000 km).
So, if you can write a cheque just short of $2 million ($1.99 million to be exact), your friendly Bugatti dealer will be more than happy to oblige.

2012 Mini Coupe Motion Picture Debut

The 2012 Mini Cooper Cοupe is hot οff the presses, with unique sheetmetal, upgraded power numbers and a prοmise tο become the fastest productiοn Mini οn the market. We can live with that, and Mini is hοping coupe shoppers can, tοο.

To kick οf the latest ride in the Mini stable, the advertising team came up with a fun little videο with the tagline "Another Day. Anοther Adventure."
The 49-second video shοws the Mini Coupe as it travels (in a spirited fashiοn) thrοugh Iceland, Rio and Hong Kοng. The idea, οf course, is that "the fresh-faced cοupe + a willing co-pilοt = fun anywhere the open rοad takes you."
Watch the video fοr yourself. Yοu will nοt hear any voice-overs and the sales pitch is definitely set tο low, but yοu will see plenty οf gorgeous shots οf the Mini Coupe οn twisty roads.

GM Rumored to Debut New Plug-in Hybrid at 2012 Detroit Motor Show

At a recent event called “Charged 2011 – EV Symposium Silicon Valley”, General Motors’ western region group manager for environment and energy communications, Dave Barthmuss, told Brad Berman from Plugincars that the company may surprise us at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show with a new model, hinting at a plug-in hybrid crossover.
One of GM’s brands, Chevrolet, has already shown a similar concept with the Volt MPV5, so it is quite possible that the car we will see it the production version of the study.
The Volt MPV5 Concept uses a 152 PS (150 HP) electric motor that is charged by a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery, along with a 1.4-liter gasoline unit. The combustion engine’s purpose is to act purely as a generator, extending the hybrid’s range from a stingy 51.5 km (32 miles) on battery power alone to up to 482 km (300 miles).
GM claims that consumers cannot yet be satisfied with the range of a pure EV like the Nissan’s LEAF, hence the need for a range extender in the standard Volt. However, Barthmuss did not rule out the possibility of an EV in the near future, powered either by a modified version of the Volt’s powertrain without the range extender, or an entirely new system.

Honda Launches New Fit Shuttle Small MPV in Japan

After briefly postponing the presentation of its all-new Fit Shuttle due to a variety of problems that arose from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Honda on Thursday officially launched its mini MPV.
While keeping the five-seat layout of the regular Fit (called Jazz in Europe), the Shuttle is longer and taller, with the extra space benefiting both the rear passengers and the cargo area.
The more practical version of the Fit is offered in two flavors, the base model powered by a conventional 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder gasoline engine and a hybrid variant combining a 1.3-liter gasoline unit to a 10 KW electric motor.
The hybrid model is available only with front-wheel drive and a CVT, while the regular Fit Shuttle can be ordered either with front-wheel drive and a CVT or with all-wheel drive and 5-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing of the Japan-only Fit Shuttle starts at ¥1,610,000 (~US$20,030), with the hybrid model commanding ¥1,810,000 (~US$22,500).
